November Nintendo Power Includes GameCube 8cm Preview CD

Nintendo Power magazine will include the Preview CD with the November issue, which also happens to be the 150th big bonus issue! Both subscriber and newsstand copies will contain the CD, so look for it around the end of this month. The CD is the exact same size as the GameCube Mini-DVDs.

Skies of Arcadia - GameCube

Sega Japan has announced that Skies of Arcadia is coming to GameCube. The game was originally released on the Dreamcast and will be enhanced for the GameCube. Skies of Arcadia received great reviews and it is one of the best traditional RPG's ever created! Skies of Arcadia was nominated for Game of the Year by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. This game is a great addition to the GameCube lineup. Skies of Arcadia was designed by Rieko Kodama; She was the main designer of Phantasy Star I, II, and IV. The game is created by the Sega's Overworks.

Square Wants Game Boy Advance

Square has confirmed that the will continue negotiating with Nintendo to receive a Game Boy Advance development license. Unfortunately, Square is not pursuing GameCube development at this time. Unless Square agrees to support GameCube, Nintendo is not expected to grant Square GBA development kits. Square would like to bring Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI to the to the Game Boy Advance. Game Boy Advance is a perfect fit for Square as they can easily port their SNES library of games including Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana. This time Nintendo has leverage...

Star Wars: Rogue Leader Goes Gold

LucasArts has announced that Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader for the Nintendo GameCube has been approved by Nintendo of America for manufacturing. Expect Rogue Leader in stores on day one of the GameCube console launch, November 18, 2001. Rogue Leader supports Dolby Laboratories' Pro Logic II sound technology. Star Wars Rogue Leader is the first interactive entertainment title to use Dolby Pro Logic II and will provide players with fully interactive, uncompressed, real-time five-channel surround sound. Star Wars: Rogue Leader is exclusively for Nintendo GameCube.

Panasonic Q - DVD Movie / GameCube Combo

Recently at the CEATEC Expo in Japan, Panasonic, showed off the Panasonic Q. Panasonic created the custom 8cm mini-DVD game media used in the Nintendo GameCube. Nintendo allowed Panasonic to create a GameCube compatible console that can play GameCube games and also features built in DVD movie playback. Panasonic has not revealed when they will begin shipping the Q in Japan, the target price is expected to be 290 USD.

Sonic Adventure 2 - GameCube And GBA Link

SEGA has created the first game to feature the link between a GameCube game and a Game Boy Advance game. On December 20th in Japan, SEGA will ship Sonic Adventure 2 for GameCube and Sonic for Game Boy Advance. If you have both games you will be able to link the games and download a Chao to the GBA. This will unlock a GBA game mode where the Chao can be raised and trained on the GBA and you can even play Chao games versus another GBA user to further train your Choa. When you return to the GameCube version of Sonic 2, you can upload the Chao back into the game as well.

Square To Announce GameCube Support on October 12th

According to several (unconfirmed) reports Square will announce support for Nintendo GameCube on October 12th, the first day of the Tokyo Game Show. Square is expected to reveal support for Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance. As part of the deal, enhanced versions of Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9 may become GameCube exclusives. These remakes will take full advantage of the GameCube's capabilities. After the huge loss Square took from the Final Fantasy movie, they will need more than PS2 games to calm their investors. Square has stated that they would like to bring every SNES (Super Famicom) Final Fantasy game to the Game Boy Advance. .

Everyone who attends the Nintendo Cube Club Tour will receive a GameCube 8cm Preview CD. Nintendo will also distribute over 3 million GameCube preview CDs through retailers and magazine inserts. When you hold the CD, realize that this is the exact same size as the proprietary GameCube game disc. The Mini-CD includes screenshots and videos for: XG3 Extreme G Racing, Luigi's Mansion, Madden NFL 2002, NBA Courtside 2002, Pikmin, Star Wars: Rogue Leader, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, SSX Tricky, Wave Race: Blue Storm. The CD also includes detailed GameCube tech specs, wallpaper and links to official Nintendo GameCube web sites.
