Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 Coming Soon - GameCube

"We are excited to partner with Nintendo to bring this key franchise to the new platform," states Ron Doornink, President and COO, Activision, Inc. "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 will be one of the handful of third-party titles available for the Nintendo GameCube this holiday season. The game takes full advantage of the hardware's advanced technological and graphics capabilities to offer Nintendo consumers a revolutionary gaming experience."
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 lets players once again ride as the legendary Tony Hawk or one of 12 other top pros. Building on the franchise's intuitive control scheme, the game lets players perform hundreds of tricks and combos in some of the world's most popular skate locations including Los Angeles, Canada and Tokyo. Players navigate through eight obstacle filled levels that include intelligent traffic and pedestrians. The game's all new goals and rewards system offer hours of endless challenges.
"The full-screen anti-aliasing looks extremely nice on the GameCube, and many of our special effects have been rewritten for the GameCube. Because we had the advantage of learning from the PS2 engine, the GCN engine is faster, and pedestrians, cars, and objects are always drawn at their highest level of detail on the GameCube."

Nintendo GameCube Attracts Third Party Support

During a Space World Press Conference Nintendo admitted that the N64 had poor third party support. When the N64 was launched 5 years ago, looking at the financial risks involved in developing games on cartridges, many of our 3rd party companies said, "We'd have to be crazy to develop for Nintendo 64!" Today, with the playing field level financially, seeing Nintendo's incomparable exclusive titles and above all, a retail price point that's only two thirds of those competing machines, those same developers are now saying, "Develop for Nintendo? We'd be crazy not to!"
By choosing to drop cartridges in favor of Panasonic custom 3" mini-DVD's, Nintendo is able to offer publishers media that is pirate proof, quickly manufactured and with a competitive price. With GameCube publishers will make more profit per game sold than they did in the N64 days. third party companies such as: Capcom, Konami, Namco, EA and Sega have announced support for GameCube. Even Square has publicly announced their desire to make GameCube and Game Boy Advance games. Nintendo stated that there are more Third party companies developing games for GameCube than have been revealed. On November 18 the GameCube will launch in the US with 7 to 8 games, of which 3 will be Nintendo games and possibly 4 to 5 third party games.
